New Leaf Literary & Media is looking for a motivated fall intern who is detail-oriented, well-read in commercial genre fiction (particularly children’s, YA and adult fiction), and enthusiastic about learning the inner-workings of a literary agency. Intern should be available 10 to 15 hours per week, though days and hours are flexible.
Responsibilities include reading query letters and evaluating incoming submissions, as well as some light administrative work, such as mailing, email correspondence, scanning and filing. Special independent projects will be assigned based on ability. Interns will be invited to workshops, events, and other networking opportunities.
Length: 4 months
Requirements: The ideal candidate has completed at least two years of college, is motivated and organized, is well read in contemporary commercial fiction, has an avid interest in the publishing industry, understands social media, and will be professional and courteous in an office setting.
