You will work directly with the Director of Marketing and Marketing Associate to help with promoting books and authors through print, electronic and online media as well as special events in the New York area. You will gain experience in:
-Developing targeted media lists, press materials and themed pitches to national and niche media outlets
-Following up on media inquiries by sending review copies and info
-Posting & monitoring social media to promote titles and authors
-Updating marketing/publicity pages on the websites
-Assisting during publicity events, readings and book launches
– Working with marketing, production and editorial management
The internship is unpaid and candidates must commit to 12-16 hours per week in the office for a term of 10-12 weeks.
Candidates must register for academic credit internship with their college or university (fall, spring, summer) with official documentation on school letterhead confirming this information for acceptance.
We are looking for an undergraduate student who is majoring in Publishing, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or English. This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with some experience in creating content for Web and social media. Familiarity with email databases or web analytics tools would be considered when choosing the best applicant for this position.
