Psychology Today has an excellent opportunity for a few smart and talented advertising and/or graphic design interns at our office in NYC. We are a small staff, so you will be a key member of the team.

 Duties include working closely with the Associate Publisher, advertising staff and art department on sales and marketing projects, and assisting our production department with print and online advertising preparation, as well as developing marketing materials. Outstanding professionalism and organization are a requirement; should be able to juggle several tasks at once and work autonomously.

Graphic design skills and prior experience in Photoshop and InDesign are necessary. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in publishing, advertising, or graphic design. Positions run from now until the end of the year, three or more days a week (full-time preferred), and include a small daily stipend.

Remote internship opportunity: Author Assistant

Award-winning Young Adult author seeks intern for 16 hours/week for the Spring 2013 semester. The work involves creating and keeping up author Bill Konigsberg’s social media presence on Twitter, Facebook and other sites as needed. Are you social media savvy? Do you understand how to increase an author’s Twitter following through timely and appropriate tweets about Y.A. literature and issues of interest to teens, Y.A. librarians, and educators? If so, and if you have other creative ideas about how to catapult an author into the world of social media, this may be a perfect internship for you. An understanding of issues related to L.G.B.T. youth will be helpful. Internship will start in the spring and lead up to the release of a major novel in June (Scholastic). Work may extend to a part-time summer job that includes other areas of publicity, such as setting up school visits and media interviews. This will depend upon interest and ability of author and intern.

Interns are required to communicate with author via either Skype, email and via phone conversations on a weekly basis.

Editorial Internship with Elite Traveler!

An internship with Cupcake Digital provides emerging Production Artist/Designers with hands-on, professional experience in an exciting creative digital studio. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to gain experience creating artwork on large-scale projects from the collaborative process to art production to marketing graphics.

Cupcake Digital is a new digital media company focused on the development of fun-filled, interactive storybook and game apps for kids and families. We work with major entertainment properties, including Bolder Media, the emmy award winning team behind the popular Nick Jr. TV series “Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!” The successful partnership resulted in a top-ranked storybook app, Wubbzy’s Pirate Treasure, available on the Itunes and Android market. Cupcake Digital has scheduled a wide release of a robust suite of digital apps for 2013.

Description:
Primary responsibility is to execute art based on conceptual and visual direction. Interns will be working with creative leads across a wide range of app and web-related projects including app and website designs and development, banner campaigns, graphic user interfaces, style guides, and presentation materials. Current college students or recent college graduates who have completed course work or internships involving graphic design, vector illustration, and online media are encouraged to apply. Candidates must be available to spend at least three days per week at CD studio.

Requirements:

  •  0-2 years of interactive web design experience
  • A self-motivated individual with interest and experience in interactive design
  • Diligent, detail-oriented, and able to follow direction well
  • Strong skills in typography, graphic design, and layout
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software and Adobe CS 4 applications such as PhotoShop and Illustrator a must
  • Working knowledge of HTML, current development practices, and design trends
  • Drawing/illustration skills highly desirable

Interns will assist with the development and execution of various concepts, in addition to individual design projects, and collaborate with the team on various tasks as needed. Must prioritize work and manage time effectively, meet deadlines and demonstrate reliability, partner with co-workers while being receptive to ideas of others, take direction and constructive feedback from creative team, deliver effective written and oral communication, exhibit enthusiasm for work, exhibit motivation to learn and build skills.

We are looking for an individual who is excited to bring to life a brand identity for a theme, story, or characters, and create a variety of layouts and artwork for development and marketing of our digital media properties. The graphic designer will work closely with the Creative Producer and Project Manger to create/re-touch artwork, maintain an organized archive of all assets (including images, video and typography) related to each digital property, create video content and assemble mock-ups.

Communications Internship at Cancer Research Institute

Cancer Research Institute is seeking a part-time paid intern to assist the communications team in preparing for the transition to our new site, including the development and creation of new materials and services to be featured on the site.

 

Depending on the skills and interests of the intern, responsibilities of this position may include:

  • Building a database of cancer immunotherapy clinical trials
  • Creating informational and promotional materials to facilitate community fundraising
  • Compiling and drafting statistical information on different cancers
  • Conducting research and surveys on cancer immunology programs worldwide
  • Reviewing and aggregating cancer immunotherapy news
  • Assisting in the centralization, reorganization, taxonomy convention, and content migration of assets and documents to the new website
  • Gathering photos and other assets from grantees and other sources

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in progress or completed

Time commitment:
