Monochrome head-and-left-shoulder photo portrait of 50-year-old LewisThis past week was C.S. Lewis’ birthday (November 29th). He is mostly known for his popular series including The Chronicles of Narnia, The Screwtape Letters, and The Space Trilogy.
“Literature adds to reality, it does not simply describe it. It enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provides; and in this respect, it irrigates the deserts that our lives have already become.”

Clive Staples (C.S.) Lewis started his career in academic publishing first at his university in Oxford. There, he met J.R.R. Tolkien and the two became close friends. Together, they created a literary group called Inklings in 1929.
“Always try to use the language so as to make quite clear what you mean and make sure your sentence couldn’t mean anything else.”
Many of his works are known for being inspired by Christian themes, being a devoted Christian in his later years. Lewis wrote over 30 works which have been translated into many different languages.
