It’s the beginning of summer and the perfect time to be searching for a job or an internship. This week, instead of listing available jobs and internships within the publishing industry, we thought it would be helpful to show you some of our favorite websites to go to for daily job listings.
MEOjobs, LLC is a non-commercial website dedicated to providing its readers and subscribers with career opportunities within the media and communications industries. On its website, it has #MEOjobs of the Day posts, showing the top job listings for the day throughout different cities. MEOjobs also publishes free newsletters for subscribers, which reach more than 10,000 job-seekers worldwide. It has been recommended by more than a dozen colleges and universities as a top media career resource.
Publishers Marketplace provides daily news, reports, job listings, databases, and tools that help publishing professionals network and complete business tasks. It also publishes Publishers Lunch, the largest-circulation news communication and a “daily essential read” for book publishing professionals and businesses across the world.
PublishingCrossing is in association with EmploymentCrossing, one of the world’s largest collections of job listings. PublishingCrossing specifically focuses on providing you listings within in the publishing industry and updates them daily, so you aren’t applying to jobs that are already taken. It also has search and browse options, so you can specify what you are looking for or just look around to see what is available.
Bookjobs.com is dedicated to helping employers recruit “the best and the brightest college graduates around the country.” It was created to list available positions within the publishing industry, while also providing basic information about the book publishing industry that will help both college graduates and publishing professionals. Bookjobs.com is sponsored by the Association of American Publishers, “the leading trade association for the U.S. book and journal publishing industry.”
Mediabistro is “the premier media job listings site and career destination for savvy media professionals.” It provides listings for new job opportunities, ways to advance in the industry, skills to learn and develop, and support for your professional career. Mediabistro shows job listings for all areas of publishing (and other media industries). It also has a resume writing service and a freelance directory, in case you want to look for freelance opportunities instead.
