The Brooklyn Book Festival is the largest free literary event in New York City, presenting an array of national and international literary stars and emerging authors. One of America’s premier book festivals, this hip, smart diverse gathering attracts thousands of book lovers of all ages to enjoy authors and the festival’s lively literary marketplace.

The Brooklyn Book Festival will also have several “Bookend” events leading up to the festival starting today including:

  • After Adderall, a movie about what happens when James Franco makes a movie about you. Directed by Stephen Elliott, featuring Nick Flynn, Marie Howe, Jerry Stahl, Susan Orlean and Michael C. Hall at Videology Cinema Bar (Brooklyn). The Opening Night Party will be at Bell House (Brooklyn). See the New York premiere of Monday, September 12
  • R.L. Stine reads from his newest book  Young Scrooge: A Very Scary Christmas Story, followed by a book-signing at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Tuesday, September 13
  • Greenlight Books and the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses host the Seventh Annual Brooklyn Indie Party to celebrate the literary independence of the borough and its Festival Friday, September 16
  • Children’s Day: Literary Celebration for Families and Children
    Saturday September 17th (10am-4pm, rain or shine)
