Hachette Books is looking for a Publicity Assistant to work with the Associate Publisher and Director of Publicity. The role includes working with a team, learning every aspect of the book publishing process, contributing to active branding, and publicizing exciting and diverse books and authors.

 Responsibilities:

  • Support Associate Publisher on all publishing and departmental responsibilities
  • Support Publicity Director on a wide array of books by high-profile authors: Non-fiction (narrative, politics, social justice, history, memoir, etc), Fiction, Poetry, and more
  • Create press materials including press releases, pitch letters, Q&A’s, and bios
  • Develop and maintain relationships with broadcast, print, and online media to secure reviews and features
  • Coordinate and execute media campaigns, implement review copy mailings,  and manage media lists and tour schedules
  • Cultivate and maintain author relationships
  • Work closely with other departments – editorial, marketing, sales, etc.
  • General administrative duties

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of publishing experience preferred (internships ok) or other relevant work experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail and superb organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task, determine priorities, and remain cool under pressure
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Cision Media database is a plus

The Clinical Medicine Books Acquisition team is looking for an Editorial Assistant to support the editorial team, while building good working relationships with authors and editors, as well as with production, marketing, and finance. The Editorial Assistant will manage day-to-day administration and complete assignments given by the Acquisitions Editor.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare final manuscripts for handover to production
  • Check any required rights, forms, and permissions for third party content
  • Coordinate editorial processes for new book proposals and contracts
  • Coordinate projects – monitor the progress of and chase authors of contracted books to ensure timely submission of manuscripts / special issues
  • Arrange for royalty and other payments for editors/authors
  • Maintain and create department and product reports
  • Liaise with authors and colleagues in marketing, production, finance, customer service and editorial departments,
  • Draft and edit cover copy and blurbs
  • Input relevant data to systems, such as BFlux, JFlux, CRM etc.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 months of office experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail; exhibiting strong organizational and analytical skills are a must
  • Be able to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and set schedules
  • Be resourceful and proactive in dealing with problems and queries
  • Have excellent team-working skills to deal with people at all levels both in the company and externally
  • Must be able to act diplomatically in representing Springer
  • Be proficient in the use of office software (MS Word and Excel) and have experience using social media tools

Cambridge University Press is looking for a Marketing Associate to join the Library Marketing team in New York City. The Marketing Associate is responsible for coordinating and executing marketing activities to librarians, consortia administrators, and end users.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide pre-sales support for institutional sales teams:
    • Generate sales leads
    • Drive usage eBook collections, eJournal collections, eJournal archive collections, online databases, and standalone online publications
  • Create and manage library/consortia marketing plans and proposals, using all appropriate media within an agreed budget and schedule
  • Design and produce email campaigns, web assets, advertising, direct mail, and online promotions tied to the marketing plans
  • Create, copy write, deploy, track, and report on email campaigns
  • Incorporate Journey Builder into marketing campaigns
  • Create support materials for Library Conferences, including conference banners, promotional literature and giveaways

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of marketing experience (academic publishing preferred)
